Ken and Roberta Williams announce a reimagining of Colossal Cave.
Ken and Roberta Williams they are true living legends of game design. The team founded what would become Sierra online in 1979, which was responsible for many legendary adventure game franchises such as King's Quest Et Larry Leisure Suit.
The original incarnation of Sierra Online, rebranded as Sierra Entertainment, disbanded in 2008, and Ken and Roberta Williams haven't developed a game in over twenty years. However, that is about to change as the pair are remaking Colossal Cave Adventure in VR with the name 3D adventure in the colossal cave.
The founders of Sierra Online announced their return to game development last year. Previously called The Secret, Colossal Cave 3D Adventure is a first-person adventure game built with the Unity engine. Williams plans to release it this summer for Mac, Windows, and the Oculus Quest 2 standalone VR headset. They're also open to possibly launching it on other platforms in the future.
Colossal Cave 3D Adventure will have a lot more to offer than its predecessor, with Roberta Williams describing it as a "reimagining" rather than a remake. The game features complex and wide-ranging puzzles, interesting characters, and an immersive 3D world containing over 143 locations. Ken Williams is very excited about the project, saying of Colossal Cave 3D Adventure, "It's truly a game that will delight a new generation and is 100% unlike anything you've seen on the market today." »
