'Separation', a wonderful, humorous and terrifying dystopia that is pure science fiction and is already one of the best series so far this year.
We spend our lives watching Netflix series, recommending wonders on HBO Max, waiting for star drama on Disney+ and enjoying the best Prime Video titles, but there is a platform Streaming which, almost on tiptoe, gave us some of the best series in recent years and, at the same time, it has the honor of hosting titles that bring together the best talents in front of and behind the cameras and which are among the best thing the most seriéfilo audiences have seen in 2022.
if you thought of AppleTV +, you guessed it. And, if you are lucky enough to be among its subscribers, you also have one click away from one of the series that will be in all the tops at the end of the year: Séparationa sci-fi thriller developed by Dan Erickson and starring the ex of Parks and Recreation Adam Scott whose first season of 9 episodes is now available in full on the platform.
Created on February 18 on the service of Streaming from Apple, Séparation turned out to be a revelation between audiences and critics despite Apple TV+ not having, not even close to, the ability to grow hand in hand with word of mouth that Netflix has, for example. And it is precisely this that makes it greater. With a almost perfect score -a 98% consensus on the Rotten Tomatoes review portal-, a second season quickly confirmed and endless compliments who don't hesitate to refer to it as "incredible pleasure" or "the best television surprise that could exist"the reasons to try before the end of the year, if you haven't already, are starting to pile up.
“Imagine an Orwellian world where Franz Kafka and Charlie Kaufman team up to write the script for an episode of Black mirror which will be a series in itself,” says Alejandro G. Calvo in his review of the series for SensaCinema. “A wonderful, humorous and terrifying dystopia that is pure science fiction and is already the best series to date in 2022”he concludes in his presentation.
What is "separation"?
But, let's start at the beginning. What is it about Séparation? Well, you could say it's something like the perfect mix between The Office and Black mirrorwith a story set in a company called Lumen Industries that has just set a promising goal: achieve work-life balance implement a procedure capable of separating their thoughts of work and employment.
And there we meet Mark Scou, the character of Adam Scott, the leader of a team whose employees have undergone surgery to separate memories related to their professional lives from those related to their private lives. However, this risky experiment in balancing work and personal life meets its greatest challenge and danger when Mark finds himself at the heart of a mystery that forces him to come to terms with the true nature of his job...and his own.
A mystery that keeps the spectator in suspense and adds to this mixture of genres that unites drama with "thriller", science fiction and comedy. And it is that, we quickly realize that not everything is rosy in Lumen, since the versions of the workers outside the company have no idea what is going on inside.
