“Borgen”: Sidse Babett Knudsen returns as Birgitte Nyborg

It was a small sensation when Netflix announced the sequel to the Danish hit series “Borgen – Dangerous Ropes” in April 2020. Now the new episodes are about to air two years later. On April 14, “Borgen – Power & Glory” will premiere in Scandinavian countries. On June 2, the starting signal will be given in Germany and the rest of the world. In Denmark, new episodes have been available on DR1 on a weekly basis since mid-February.
Once again 'Borgen' follows politician Birgitte Nyborg (Sidse Babett Knudsen), her team and the political and personal challenges they face. Nyborg now acts as Foreign Minister. When an oil company discovers the precious raw material in Greenland, an international competition for electricity in the Arctic begins. Denmark sees itself as a kind of "big brother" to Greenland. Nonetheless, Nyberg has to accept that his home country tends to be the underdog in the fight for dominance there – albeit extremely difficult.
Meanwhile, Katrine Fønsmark (Birgitte Hjort Sørensen) is back as a journalist after serving as Nyborg's spokesperson and is given the job of head of news for a national television station. Topics discussed during the season include Denmark's role in the modern world, the battle of the superpowers, and the climate crisis.
Series creator Adam Price (also “Ragnarok” for Netflix) is once again in charge of the script. Søren Malling, Signe Egholm Olsen, Mikael Birkkjær, Lisbeth Wulff, Lars Mikkelsen, Laura Allen Müller, Jens Albinus, Lars Knutzon, Peter Mygind, Morten Kirkskov and Angunnguaq Larsen are also back. “Borgen – Power & Glory” is produced by SAM Productions for Danish broadcaster DR in cooperation with Netflix.
