The 2019 cinema year was full of highlights and people were already looking forward to 2020 with optimism. Unfortunately, there was a bitter disappointment. The global pandemic has caused cinemas to close and most movies and series to be postponed. At least at the beginning of the year, you could still see famous movie blockbusters in cinemas. One of them was "Knives Out" by director Rian Johnson ("Star Wars: The Last Jedi"). you hate the movie Friday September 2 2022 finally too on Netflix available – and it won’t be long before the sequel appears there too.

You can get even more movie highlights with the Sky/Netflix combo subscription.

The gripping thriller tells the story of author Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer), who calls for a big family celebration on his 85th birthday. But that same night, the old man mysteriously dies. Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) and Lieutenant Elliot (LaKeith Stanfield) get to the bottom of the case and the family of the deceased becomes the target of the investigation. But relatives are not very cooperative. It is only with the help of Marta (Ana de Armas), Harlan's nurse, that Detective Blanc finds a lead.

'Knives Out' sequels now on Netflix

With "Knives Out", an exciting detective film presented itself to us, which also managed to score at the box office. The film was a box office success, grossing $309 million. In addition to the big rain of money, "Knives Out" also won over a number of critics. The film received an 82 out of 100 rating from 52 reviews on Metacritic. The thriller even got 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. But that's not all: "Knives Out" received an Oscar nomination for best screenplay. Moreover, the film shines with its wide line-up of stars. Joining the stars already mentioned are Chris Evans (Avengers: Endgame), Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween), Toni Collette (Hereditary), Don Johnson (Miama Vice), and Michael Shannon (Man of Steel) with me.

One can imagine that the sequels in Hollywood, spoiled by success, are quickly a safe bet if sales are there. But the fact that Netflix won the contract came as a surprise. In 2021, the service of Streaming has secured the rights to the “Knives Out” sequels for US$450 million. Part 2 titled “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” awaits us later this year on December 23, 2022 on the service of Streaming, where the detective finds himself this time in Greece, where he cross-examines the suspects on a luxury yacht. Part 3, which will again deal with another case, is also to be produced by Netflix. To shorten the waiting time until then, it's (again) worth a look at “Knives Out” on Netflix.
