According to the statement from the Egyptian government, the services of Streaming must respect the “principles of the society and the values ​​of the country” where they transmit their videos. The statement from the Supreme Media Regulatory Council did not provide further details. The Los Gatos, Calif.-based company did not comment.

Homosexuality is taboo in Egypt, where a 2013 survey by the Pew Research Center found that 93% of Egyptians believe it should be "rejected by society".
