Money Heist: Korea is a Korean remake of the Spanish hit series Money Heist. Now, Netflix has announced the upcoming debut date and released a new trailer at the same time:
With "Heist of Money: Korea", Netflix seems to want to combine its successes of the most successful international series. Finally, Money Heist seasons rank #2, #4, and #5 in Netflix's top 10 non-English language series. The only ones who can follow are “All Of Us Are Dead” in 3rd place and with a net gap of about a billion (!) hours watched the mega hit “Squid Game” in 1st place. Both series come from South Korea. Thus, the Korean remake "Money Heist" already seems on the verge of success. But if it really hits like the original, we'll see it this summer: Money Heist: Korea will premiere on Netflix on June 24, 2022.
New masks, new decor
The start date was announced in the new trailer, which also shows us for the first time which masks the team will be wearing. It is logical that Korean bank robbers do not walk around in the likeness of the Spanish painter Salvador Dali, as their European colleagues did. Hahoe masks, which have a long tradition in Korea, are used.
This also resolves the mini cliffhanger left behind by the first Money Heist: Korea teaser. This was released in January and first showed the new teacher (Yoo Ji-tae) and his new team, which also includes “Squid Game” star Park Hae-Soo.
It is true that "Money Heist: Korea" is a remake that takes up the plot of the original. However, it has already been announced that changes will be made here and there to adapt the series to the new Korean setting.
