Switching between Android and iOS can be a painful experience, but there are usually assistive apps that aim to make things easier. To move from Android to iOS, Apple's "Move to iOS" app tends to work sometimes, and to move from Android to iOS, you'll usually use a mix of apps and Google cloud services to do the change. Switching from iOS to Android has never been easier thanks to the lack of a dedicated companion app, but Google has now quietly launched the "Switch to Android" app on the Apple App Store.
The app currently walks users through the typical process that new Android device owners would have had to go through anyway. This includes backing up contacts, calendar items, and your photos. It will also show users how to turn off iMessage before switching. It's basically an interactive checklist for getting all your data from your iPhone and onto your shiny new Android phone, but with the caveat that you can't migrate over app data.

The app itself will ask you to scan a QR code of the device being set up when it launches. It also doesn't require the two phones to be connected via some sort of cable, as most data transfers are done through Google accounts and Google Drive. The most important part is disabling iMessage, otherwise other iPhone users will not be able to text you.
Google's dedicated app for switching to Android comes a a time after Apple's own app to move to iOS. The "Move to iOS" app debuted in 2015, when Google's own official instructions simply guided users through installing Google Drive and backing up data that way. There was no way to move text messages for example, and the process was extremely restrictive.
All this does not mean that the process is no longer binding. That's still the case, but Google's goal is to at least make it as clear as possible what pouvez be moved. Google has included a way to copy data from iCloud to Google Drive, where you get 15GB of storage for free rather than the meager 2GB of storage with iCloud.
