Depuis leur cr\u00e9ation l’ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re, The Smile – alias Thom Yorke de Radiohead et Jonny Greenwood et Tom Skinner de Sons Of Kemet – ont apparemment tout fait MAIS sortir un album. Ils ont planifi\u00e9 une tourn\u00e9e europ\u00e9enne, jou\u00e9 des concerts en direct, partag\u00e9 des reprises et sorti des chansons telles que \u00ab\u00a0The Smoke\u00a0\u00bb, \u00ab\u00a0Skrting On The Surface\u00a0\u00bb, le Peaky Blinders<\/em>– a lanc\u00e9 \u00ab\u00a0Pana-vision\u00a0\u00bb et \u00ab\u00a0Vous ne travaillerez plus jamais \u00e0 la t\u00e9l\u00e9vision\u00a0\u00bb. The Smile ont annonc\u00e9 leur premier album, Une lumi\u00e8re pour attirer l’attention<\/em>, \u00e0 venir le 13 mai via XL Recordings. Parall\u00e8lement \u00e0 la nouvelle, une autre nouvelle chanson \u00ab\u00a0Free in the Knowledge\u00a0\u00bb, que Yorke a fait ses d\u00e9buts l’ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re lors d’un \u00e9v\u00e9nement Letters Live au Royal Albert Hall de Londres (sa premi\u00e8re repr\u00e9sentation depuis le d\u00e9but de la pand\u00e9mie).<\/p>\n

Une lumi\u00e8re pour attirer l’attention<\/em>, qui \u00e9tait l’une de nos sorties les plus attendues de 2022, est produit et mix\u00e9 par Nigel Godrich et masteris\u00e9 par Bob Ludwig. Les morceaux pr\u00e9sentent des cordes du London Contemporary Orchestra ainsi qu’une section compl\u00e8te de cuivres de jazzmen britanniques contemporains, dont Byron Wallen, Theon et Nathaniel Cross, Chelsea Carmichael, Robert Stillman et Jason Yarde.<\/p>\n

Et enfin! Une date de sortie, une nouvelle chanson, l’\u0153uvre d’art que Thom et Stanley ont peinte tout l’hiver – et le sentiment que nous allons enfin partager notre nouvelle musique dans son int\u00e9gralit\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Je suis reconnaissant que nous ayons r\u00e9ussi, avec l’aide de Nigel, \u00e0 enregistrer ces chansons d’une mani\u00e8re qu’elles m\u00e9ritent. Et les singles sortis jusqu’\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent ont \u00e9t\u00e9 aim\u00e9s \u2013 pour autant que je sache \u2013 ce qui me donne une confiance dangereuse dans le reste du disque. Comme le dit l’algorithme omniscient, si vous avez aim\u00e9 \u00e7a, vous allez adorer \u00e7a, n’est-ce pas\u00a0? J’esp\u00e8re. En dehors de tout, les cuivres et les cordes qui ont aid\u00e9 \u2014 j’ai vraiment h\u00e2te que vous entendiez tout leur travail aussi.<\/p>\n

Alors oui, nous sommes vraiment fiers et excit\u00e9s que tout le monde ait le tout – mais le processus a \u00e9t\u00e9 long jusqu’\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent, avec tant de chansons uniques sorties. Je ne peux que m’excuser pour notre h\u00e9sitation. La patience est une vertu, mais la sobri\u00e9t\u00e9 et l’humilit\u00e9 le sont aussi – et elles ne se produisent pas non plus. Nous ne pouvons pas non plus persuader Apple Music d’arr\u00eater de griser les titres des morceaux in\u00e9dits (les taquineries!) – mais, le 13 mai, tout sera l\u00e0-bas, au lieu d’ici.<\/p>\n

Alors que nous nous pr\u00e9parons \u00e0 jouer tout cela en direct, une petite partie de moi consid\u00e8re le disque comme un moyen de familiariser d’abord les gens avec les chansons. C’est \u00e0 courte vue, mais au moment o\u00f9 j’\u00e9cris ceci, je ne peux pas vraiment penser au-del\u00e0 du premier accord du premier concert en Croatie parce que c’est l\u00e0 que r\u00e9side l’essentiel de l’excitation pour moi. Les concerts live sont des choses \u00e0 courte vue, \u00e9ph\u00e9m\u00e8res, et d’autant plus vitales \u00e0 cause de cela.<\/p>\n

Mais vraiment, le disque m\u00e9rite toujours votre temps \u2013 \u00e0 la fois le temps pass\u00e9 \u00e0 attendre et le temps que nous vous demandons d’investir pour l’entendre \u2013 c’est tout ce que je peux esp\u00e9rer. Je l’\u00e9coute constamment, longtemps apr\u00e8s que j’aurais d\u00fb en avoir assez, alors c’est peut-\u00eatre la bonne vision \u00e0 long terme de cela. J’esp\u00e8re que vous avez la m\u00eame exp\u00e9rience.<\/p>\n
