Jackie Chan-Style Action: Directors Hint at He-Man's Abilities in New Netflix Movie - KINO.DE

😍 REVIEWS News – Paris/France.

In an interview, the makers revealed new details about their 'Masters of the Universe' film adaptation. The action should therefore be very different.

With "The Lost City", the director brothers Adam and Aaron Nee have the honor of being able to release the last film with Hollywood darling Sandra Bullock in theaters for the time being (German release on September 1, 2019). April 21th). The comedy-adventure could be seen as something of a finger exercise for the two filmmakers, as they'll soon be heading to Eternia: for Mattel Films and Netflix, they'll be doing the big 'Masters of the Universe' project and hopefully the, He-Man for New Live Action – Help Life.

That little fans of yesteryear, even adults, still love the He-Man warrior in undress, stuffed with muscles and maybe "By the power of Grayskull, I have power!" Calling when no one is watching was demonstrated recently with the success of the Netflix animated series Masters of the Universe - Revelation from showrunner Kevin Smith.

The project has found its new lead actor in Kyle Allen. And the Nee brothers already know exactly how they want to stage it. They revealed to Variety that the action in their film will be very different:

“There's an incredible emotional vulnerability about him, he's just an amazing actor, but he's as funny as Michael J. Fox. He has this particular charisma, this very rare energy in an actor. And then there's the fact that he's trained in all kinds of martial arts: he's a swordsman, he does parkour, he can do anything. So the amount of crazy Jackie Chan-style action stuff we can do in this movie is going to blow people away.

Action à la Jackie Chan. Considering He-Man's original role model was Conan the Barbarian, and he also wielded his sword more like a Barbarian in the classic animated series, it seems a little obscure to imagine He-Man now performing stunts like the Target of the martial arts superstar. On the other hand, it's certainly a welcome change. And even though the action scenes are choreographed as ingeniously as in “Master of All Classes,” audiences should be prepared for plenty of action and fun. “Masters of the Universe”: The new film must stay true to the classic style

Other than that, the makers want to stick with the classic anime series and action figure style to give fans exactly the nostalgic moments they want. Fans like the two themselves:

"It was very important to us that with 'Masters of the Universe' we stuck to what it meant to us as children. The "Masters of the Universe" series and these toys weren't silly or absurd to us as kids, they had depth and meaning. But what we don't want to lose sight of is that she's also wild and crazy colorful characters. And that was also part of the balancing act that we tried to do with “The Lost City”. Keeping something that has a core of human empathy and yet not being afraid to laugh and go crazy and have all these wild things happen and have wild characters.

Of course, their "Masters of the Universe" certainly won't be as colorful as the cartoon model, but certainly not as completely detached from the original as the 1987 film adaptation with Dolph Lundgren as He-Man and Frank. Langella as Skeletor.
