Assassin's Creed Invictusor even simply "Invictus", seems to be the code name for the new Ubisoft multiplayer project for its fantasy-historical series, to be inserted in the broad context of Assassin's Creed Infinity, in the proposal of various different experiences based on the same universe.
The question had already appeared during the presentation of the new chapters at Ubisoft Forward with the idea of an Assassin's Creed focused on online multiplayer, but it was further clarified by the developers in subsequent interviews.

Assassin's Creed Invictus would be supposed to be a multiplayer-focused standalone game and inserted in the context of Assassin's Creed Infinity, or the overall platform that should provide access to all chapters of the series, making sure to bring together the different experiences of the franchise and also connecting the community of players.
Within this connected universe, Invictus should play a role of considerable importance, being the first Assassin's Creed project specifically designed for multiplayer. It is possible that Invictus will be distributed as free to playalthough Ubisoft has yet to clarify this aspect of the game.
In the general context of Assassin's Creed, the peculiarity of Invictus could also be the fact of bringing together characters belonging to different historical periods within a general multiplayer, thus creating a bridge between the different stories.
