MultiVersus Reviews — MultiVersus is a free-to-play cross-over fighting game developed by Player First Games and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The game features various characters from the Warner Bros. catalog. Discovery, including those from Warner Bros., DC Comics, HBO, Turner Entertainment and Cartoon Network.
From DC Comics heroes like Batman and Superman to HBO characters like Arya Stark from Game of Thrones, MultiVersus brings together a slew of familiar faces for you to do battle with.
So when is MultiVersus coming out, and what else do you need to know about it? Keep reading to find out!

What is MultiVersus?
MultiVersus is a cross-platform platformer fighting game allowing you to play with or against your friends, using famous people such as Batman, Sammy, Superman, Bugs Bunny and others. In this game you can choose between Harley Quinn, Tom and Jerry, Finn the human, Wonder Woman, Steven Universe, Jake the dog, Garnet, Superman, and an extraordinary creature called Reindeer dog.
Each fighter has unique abilities that dynamically pair with other characters. Each character will have their own set of customizable perks that will change the way you play and your synergy with your teammates
Defend the multiverse with your friends anywhere, anytime on all available platforms. This includes full cross-platform play and progression. This new game from Warner Bros. features various maps of legendary worlds and characters, such as Batman's Batcave and Jake and Finn's Treehouse, and more.
On the gameplay side, MultiVersus offers an innovative experience focused on 2v2 cooperation or the intense Free for All mode in 1v1 and 4 players. You can also hone your skills in practice mode or put your skills to the test in ranked competition. MultiVersus supports online play and local (offline) games.

What is the release date of MultiVersus
The wait is pretty much over for MultiVersus, and we now have the open beta. MultiVersus release date is officially the 26 July 2022, and while this is technically the start of MultiVersus' open beta period, you can think of it as a soft launch for the full game. Thus, the MultiVersus is now downloadable on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC, and offers full cross-play support.
During the testing phase, MultiVersus rolled out a lot of new content, including the Iron Giant, Rick and Morty. The game has been fairly well received, but the open beta is still not available to everyone, everywhere, on all platforms. During the first beta of the game, only people residing in America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand can participate in the open beta, which creates more noise around the release of the game.
As MultiVersus is a free game, you won't need to spend any money if you don't want to, although there are plenty of optional in-game purchases if you want to speed up the process of unlocking MultiVersus characters or getting items exclusive personalization.
What is the price of the game?
MultiVersus is a platform combat video game in free-to-play and totally free on all platforms and consoles, with an ever-expanding set of iconic characters and legendary universes, various online modes including a 2v2 team-based format, and rolling content seasons.
MultiVersus is a completely Free-to-Play game and has no Pay-to-Win (P2W) elements. Buying additional in-game currency won't have a huge effect on gameplay. The only thing that can get you ahead of the competition by paying real money is that you can get characters stronger using Gleamium.
Note that during the testing phase of the game, players were subject to regular resets of their progress. However, with the release of the open beta on July 26, 2022, the game will no longer have a reset, allowing players to keep their progress forever.
Multiplayer mode
MultiVersus' unique focus on two-on-two play has sparked interest from fans in the fighting game community, emphasizing teamwork between players rather than just a one-on-one fight.
Unfortunately, MultiVersus currently only supports online co-op, with users logging in through their WB account on any console of their choice. Although cross-play is possible between systems, there is no split-screen feature to play with friends on the same console. However, the game supports local play in all modes, which means you can play cooperatively with your friends in the same room.
However, the game has a traditional local play mode, accessible by clicking "Play" and then the "Custom" tab at the top of the screen. Here, up to four players can choose their rules and levels, as well as any character, whether they have it unlocked or not. These characters do not automatically unlock for online play.
It is not known if Warner Bros. will add a local online co-op feature to MultiVersus after the open beta or at launch, but it's still possible.
How to download MultiVersus?
If you want to download MultiVersus on PC, just go to the official product page at Steam or Epic Games Store, you will be able to get the game from there!
If you want to download MultiVersus on a PS4 or PS5 console, all you have to do is go to the PlayStation Store console of your choice and select the option to download the game.
If you're playing on an Xbox One, Xbox Series X, or Xbox Series S, you'll find the MultiVersus download option in the Microsoft Store from your console.
Although there are paid Founder's Packs (which will allow you to earn digital gifts), you can also download the base game for free. It should be noted that there is no Nintendo Switch or mobile version of MultiVersus, so don't search on those platforms. You also won't find the game on Google Stadia or Amazon Luna at this time.

Can you play split-screen co-op?
Multi Versus does not have any split-screen functionality. However, it supports local multiplayer. Basically, you and your friends play locally on the same screen without any adjustments. Anyone can share the screen, as long as they have a stable remote connection. It's basically couch co-op, which is an aesthetic that fighting games typically aim for.
It's pretty important to omit the split-screen feature entirely, as the views are cut into squares. Add to that the fact that the response time has to be precise, having the characters face each other would be a bit difficult to understand. It's important to remember that when you're fighting someone you need to watch their every move, using split screen could potentially detract from that action experience.
Will MultiVersus have a story mode?
The story mode is an aspect that was missing in the last games of the genre. This is another feature that only Smash Bros has managed to manage when it comes to integrating a lot of intellectual properties into an overarching narrative. From taking on Rayquaza as Mario to defeating the Master's Hand, Smash Bros has always delivered on storytelling. With so many characters and story arcs at their disposal, one really wonders why Warner Brothers chose not to create its own adventure story.
Whether it's the dimension-hopping abilities of Rick & Morty, the multiversal potential of Batman and Superman, or the time chamber of Adventure Time, there's more than one way to craft a storyline in which the worlds of these characters could face each other! Unfortunately for fans, it seems the shortest route was chosen here. It's a real shame that players never get to experience a world where some of pop culture's most recognizable icons cross paths.

Conclusion
MultiVersus is a fun, competitive platformer that rewards players for learning the strengths and weaknesses of its original characters and working as a team. The focus on online 2v2 means it doesn't have the 'pick-up-and-play' nature of a game like Smash Bros, but it also stands out from other games in the genre. MultiVersus may need time to grow its currently limited selection of stages and characters to reach its brilliant potential, but its foundations are already rock solid.
